The Foot Valve is a one-way check valve designed to be installed at the inlet of a suction line — typically at the bottom of a pump’s suction pipe — to prevent backflow and maintain prime in the pump system. By combining a non-return function with an integrated strainer, this valve stops water from draining out of the suction line when the pump stops, ensuring faster starts and more reliable operation.

🔧 Key Features

Non-return design — allows fluid to flow only in one direction, preventing loss of prime and backflow into the source.
Brass construction with rubber sealing — excellent corrosion resistance and long-lasting performance in water and marine environments.
Integrated strainer — protects pumps by filtering debris at the suction inlet.
Vertical installation — positioned at the lowest point of the suction line for optimal operation.
Female BSP threaded ends (or equivalent connections) for secure fitting into piping systems.

⚓ Typical Applications

Foot valves are essential in any system requiring a pump to draw fluid from a reservoir, including:

Freshwater and marine pump intake lines
Boat bilge and deck wash systems
Irrigation and water supply setups
Industrial and domestic well pumps
Any application where maintaining suction and preventing loss of prime is critical

💡 Why Use a Foot Valve?

Without a foot valve, water can drain back down the suction line every time the pump stops, forcing the operator to re-prime the system before restarting. A foot valve locks the fluid in the line, reducing downtime, protecting the pump, and improving overall system reliability.
